<br />
Man, life is CRAZY! I just can't keep up with this blog. I am plugging away though, and making lots of notes. I promise that at some point I will have all these letters finished and out of draft form.<br />
<br />
So what has happened at our crazy house this week?<br />
<br />
Well Friday afternoon we took off to Wisconsin. You did awesome in the car again, and Grandpa had lots of fun playing with you. Just like normal, you were talking up a storm. Crazy girl!<br />
<br />
When we got there you gave Great Grandma some love and snuggled with Aunt Susie as she fed you some Gigi muffins. You are pretty much BFFs with anyone who will give you food, my little butterball! In good news, though, you slept awesome, even in a new place. You slept completely through the night until almost 8am. Go Squish!<br />
<br />
Saturday we did a little shopping. Ellie had a lot of fun with Grandma and Aunt Susie! And you were a doll, snuggling with Daddy in a blanket most of the shopping trip since we hadn't brought your stroller. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_SaQDTn86WG3vXssIrjj1jVRspXBqWMS1nf1Jpqv2g0C-dz-Vr9I_rHVGeTWyKZBPfevX6CBaFqT4OinH4ZhSnWa5OtKyPeT2omXALTMcwADfN2SdPV2VT51LK2PVhbIdZLS2KSFUQyGP/s1600/IMG_20141115_105802413_HDR.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_SaQDTn86WG3vXssIrjj1jVRspXBqWMS1nf1Jpqv2g0C-dz-Vr9I_rHVGeTWyKZBPfevX6CBaFqT4OinH4ZhSnWa5OtKyPeT2omXALTMcwADfN2SdPV2VT51LK2PVhbIdZLS2KSFUQyGP/s1600/IMG_20141115_105802413_HDR.jpg" height="180" width="320" /></a></div>
Then it was back to Aunt Susie's where everyone came over and got to spend some time with you. Both you and your sister especially enjoyed playing with Maddy and Carter. And, you were so worn out you slept well again.<br />
<br />
Sunday we had to head back. You did great again traveling, but it was a long day, as you were back at the gym that night. You are so tolerant of crazy schedules, it is insane. You really are the most easy going baby ever!<br />
<br />
Monday we all needed to recoup...but didn't get too much of a chance. You had to go get your second flu shot. Poor thing. We got some good snuggles before hand. <br />
<br />

<br />
You did great at your shot, and your big sister sang "Twinkle, Twinkle" to you so that you only cried for a minute, then you were back to all smiles. <br />
<br />
We ended up going for a big grocery shopping run Monday night too. They predicted a pretty bad snow storm, so we stocked up. At least if we're snowed in, I've got my girls, and some yummy food!<br />
<br />
Tuesday came and we did get a lot of snow. So we stayed in jammies and played together. <br />
<br />
Really, though, I cannot even stand your cuteness. You are so adorable, my little Smoosh.<br />

<br />
You know who else is adorable? Your sister...the Gigi muffin monster...<br />

<br />
<br />
Wednesday did not turn out to be the best day. I had planned to go to the Y. I got us all ready, went out to the car and....the car battery was dead. Arg! That made for a bad morning. So we stayed home and kept calm by making brownies (yes, I see the irony in this). You sat in your exersaucer smiling up a storm... <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1sVVO6j1ij-BLZ-McNOE0O9q_jaMTyf5BLFupJdiB1Dx4HBSFIZle2LghKClyiZKnE0ybLDo_kyeKiPsGe8WL8UpfB1gHHCZ2HY9jUS050vKC-39s_z1VfAMnip3C0dl3gv-Zg_6yhgP0/s1600/IMG_20141119_094619.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1sVVO6j1ij-BLZ-McNOE0O9q_jaMTyf5BLFupJdiB1Dx4HBSFIZle2LghKClyiZKnE0ybLDo_kyeKiPsGe8WL8UpfB1gHHCZ2HY9jUS050vKC-39s_z1VfAMnip3C0dl3gv-Zg_6yhgP0/s1600/IMG_20141119_094619.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And got tortured by your sister... <br />

While Miss Ellie and I made some yummy brownies.<br />
<br />

That night we decided to get out of the house and go to Hacienda for dinner. Yum. You were, f course, a flirt like normal!<br />
<br />
Thursday I went to the gym, so you hung out with Grandma for a bit. You are getting used to taking good naps there, which is really helpful. You are an even happier baby when you are well rested!<br />
<br />
The bad news is that Daddy had to work late, so we didn't get as much family play time. But, when he did come home, we went for quality over quantity. Your new favorite game with him is sticking your hand in his mouth as far as he will let you and laughing hysterically. Silly, silly, girl! Of course he would do anything to hear that laugh so he allows it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYqtZpwoxWOlufC9OFfxpJnX6YGwiK0qfLf5NWN01ovxOsh0XJTTPjc4E6AB3nQxyineNP03sGFhqsphgspY1rplPwriJvCoFGafB3AKNkux4bKdB-WwR10-WSXHo8AzGNU2d6WnJb9DJk/s1600/IMG_20141120_200521249.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYqtZpwoxWOlufC9OFfxpJnX6YGwiK0qfLf5NWN01ovxOsh0XJTTPjc4E6AB3nQxyineNP03sGFhqsphgspY1rplPwriJvCoFGafB3AKNkux4bKdB-WwR10-WSXHo8AzGNU2d6WnJb9DJk/s1600/IMG_20141120_200521249.jpg" height="180" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I have to say, the coolest thing right now is watching you and Ellie. You two are awesome together. Even though we've had a couple hitting incidents lately, you guys really are inseparable. Ellie loves to give you kisses and hugs, and has to throw your Sofia doll into the crib every single night for you. Oh, and last night...the cutest thing...she pushed the door open just a little slit while I was trying to get you down for bed...smooshed her face through and started saying 'I luuuuuv yoooooou' over and over and over. How adorable is that? I just love you both so much that I think my heart is just going to explode.<br />
<br />
So Miss Scarlett, One more week down. It was busy and crazy, stressful and choatic, and just wonderful. I love you so much, and I am so roud of you. I feel like you have grown up so much recently, that I just blinked and now you are so BIG. But regardless, I really do just love being your Momy more than anything!<br />
<br />
I love you!<br />

And it is too fun looking back at the time. I mean, two years ago, we had this:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-giwx3Jyn8zU/ULdcIFsBV0I/AAAAAAAAL6s/2dGHGiwsh5Y/s1600/DSC_5043fav.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-giwx3Jyn8zU/ULdcIFsBV0I/AAAAAAAAL6s/2dGHGiwsh5Y/s1600/DSC_5043fav.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Ellie was right around 6 weeks at the time, I believe. A year later she was running all over the patch, and I was almost to my third trimester in my pregnancy with Scarlett:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvFNO8JOsIyblttNArO5PX7r4yf5o5Cpy_a4bX8KVBjRGpTpshv9LlkQ_WrDj2-SO_ESBzfGecBYNOu0yfDhRSAfeuNH5rhmEF5J1KwhkhsNZQW_-GLio1HD4UFWwPyUdMWQbSps8f3mOL/s1600/elliepumpkin.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvFNO8JOsIyblttNArO5PX7r4yf5o5Cpy_a4bX8KVBjRGpTpshv9LlkQ_WrDj2-SO_ESBzfGecBYNOu0yfDhRSAfeuNH5rhmEF5J1KwhkhsNZQW_-GLio1HD4UFWwPyUdMWQbSps8f3mOL/s1600/elliepumpkin.jpg" height="320" width="245" /></a></div>
<br />
And then this year:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQHjBjVQr56YAV61qY5YQaasbFPKPRG33mOSWOIpaA-V_EBHcpcokFkLF-kMeR3_KFSW8aTZm_9wvDU4Z93C5UVPwJry_00nFsWufEeqkGUePqN4y31b1BHGh65DIELRu1UNOGfDI7DSZ1/s1600/DSC_8279familyDONE.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQHjBjVQr56YAV61qY5YQaasbFPKPRG33mOSWOIpaA-V_EBHcpcokFkLF-kMeR3_KFSW8aTZm_9wvDU4Z93C5UVPwJry_00nFsWufEeqkGUePqN4y31b1BHGh65DIELRu1UNOGfDI7DSZ1/s1600/DSC_8279familyDONE.jpg" height="228" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Craziness! But we had a lot of fun. We ran into a slight snafu with Ellie. We told her we were going to go pick a pumpkin. Well, of course, she has been picking strawberries and blueberries and apples, and has happily munched on them all. So I shouldn't have been surprised when she went to take a big bite out of a pumpkin, right? Sigh.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgg5RkdI2TqM-VYJLiqv0YnsBDWj7BakJz3y4b3qHv89IJwx5hJ7r_-l_RzLLFhOfR7ctzcnJ_L3vZuOtphz9LmlNo8J8zbuHD-Ll0bqs5Ho3uRb7ioJmP_9oVhyphenhyphenhEBP0IE9N3egGGNnz-c/s1600/DSC_8195favDONE.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgg5RkdI2TqM-VYJLiqv0YnsBDWj7BakJz3y4b3qHv89IJwx5hJ7r_-l_RzLLFhOfR7ctzcnJ_L3vZuOtphz9LmlNo8J8zbuHD-Ll0bqs5Ho3uRb7ioJmP_9oVhyphenhyphenhEBP0IE9N3egGGNnz-c/s1600/DSC_8195favDONE.jpg" height="228" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Ellie also tried to pick up EVERY SINGLE PUMPKIN. That was interesting. Even when Scarlett was holding on. Luckily, S only faceplanted once because of this.<br />
<br />

Since she is SOOOO into standing these days, she just loved standing at the pumpkins.<br />

And, of course, there was more important stuff to put in the wagon then those silly pumpkins!<br />

<br />
My super sweet big girl though...when we were leaving, after picking out 2 pumpkins, one for each girl, Ellie insisted on getting a small pumpkin for me. "I need to get Momma a pumpkin. Momma needs a pumpkin." Love her kind spirit!<br />
<br />
Overall another great trip to the pumpkin patch for this family!<br />

<br />
Every week something new pops up on my facebook feed to roll my eyes about. Judgey blogs from all over about every parenting decision out there. Breastfeeding. Formula feeding. Attachment parents. Cry it out. Cloth Diapers. Disposable Diapers. Baby led weaning. Making your own purees. Homeschool. Co-sleeping. The list goes on and on and...<br />
<br />
My favorite eyeroll-worthy article? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/bunmi-laditan/im-done-making-my-kids-childhood-magical_b_5062838.html<br />
<br />
(Sidenote: I disagree wholeheartedly, as I believe that imagination/creativity, etc. is a SKILL that we have to teach our children. I mean we don't just say..."here's a book, have fun learning to read, I'll be in the kitchen" right? Then why does the author think we can do that with imagination? But I digress...) <br />
<br />
All these articles just serve to make moms feel judged and incite the so-called "Mommy Wars." Which, summed up, is "any decision you make there are going to be holier-than-thou moms jusging you."<br />
<br />
But here is my secret...I don't get it. I don't get why people get so into these Mommy wars. Who cares how someone takes care of their kid. You want to rock your kid to sleep every night? Cool. You want to sleep train? Cool. Neither affects me. So I don't understand why so many people care.<br />
<br />
The only thing that I can come up with about why the Mommy Wars fire is still burning is that people are doubting of their choices and looking for outside validation. Otherwise, what do I care what anyone uses to diaper their child? If it works for your family...have at it.<br />
<br />
And what works for our family is a little out of the norm. We cloth diaper. Do baby led weaning. Room-in until 6 months. Extended breastfeeding. And yet I don't have one inkling of desire to share any articles touting the superiority of any of those choices. Those are also all things that people giggled at before I had Ellie and gave me the requisite "just wait, you'll switch when you actually have a baby" talk. They clearly underestimate the assurance I have in my decisions on how to care for my family. And again, why do they need to drone on about their opinion on my choices? I just don't get it...<br />
<br />
I was talking to a friend about this a bit ago and she called me out, being such a breastfeeding advocate. But you know what? Even that...feed your baby. If formula feeding is better for you, fine. Of course, what I AM passionate about is that IF you want to breastfeed that anyone have access to resources to help them do so (especially when there is SUCH a socioeconomic disparity in breastfeeding success!). But while breastfeeding is most certainly better for myself and my family, formula feeding is undoubtedly best for others. If it isn't my family, who am I to feel so impassioned about the decisions?<br />
<br />
I'd love to call for an end to these Mommy wars, but that isn't realistic. Instead, new Mommies...spend 10 times less worrying about your decisions. Stick with them fiercely if they are working. Change if they are not. And tune out anyone that tells you anything different. <br />
Happy 37 weeks, my little Squish! Or should I say my little stander? You are going CRAZY pulling up and standing everywhere. You want SO badly to walk too. You will push my hands away when I try to old you standing up, and you will reach from one thing to another and try to walk. I cannot believe it! You are so frustrated you can't yet. Slow down, little one. I'm not ready to have another walker on my hands!<br />
<br />
So what else happened this week? Let's see...<br />
<br />
Saturday we had a nice family day. We woke up and ate some yummy pumpkin pancakes. Then we did a little bit of grocery shopping. After naps, we took a couple walks and played in the yard, and then watched the game. Go Irish! Good news...they pulled out another win! Looks like you and your sister are both good luck for them!<br />

Sunday was the usual craziness of church and the gym. The schedule is so hard on you, I'm sorry Smoosh. You don't nap at all until about 12:30 (after we eat) and that's all you get. I know you need more sleep than that. By the time we are heading home around 8:30, you are so overtired, poor baby. One of these days we will get things worked out.<br />
<br />
Monday was our catch up day as usual. Getting "off" on Sunday makes Mondays very difficult. You only took about a half hour afternoon nap, which was MUCH less than you needed. I hope that we can get some adjustments made and figure out a little more of a set schedule for you, because I know you need your sleep.<br />

Tuesday we ran some errands, but mostly ust stayed around the house again.We have a lot of fun playing and you are babbling up a storm these days. I love to hear your sweet little voice. You are still chewing on everything and drooling up a storm. But no teeth. Fooling everyone that tells me you are teething. I love it!<br />

Wednesday you sweeties went to the gym and hung out there while I worked out, then we went home for naps, and I came back with Ellie for swim classes while you had some 1-on-1 time with Grandma and Grandpa. Grandma swears you said "Grandma". I think Ellie may have been tipping you off that they are solfties for sweet girls like you!<br />

<br />
After swim lessons (which your sister is kicking butt! She can swim holding onto ONE finger, and got moved to only using HALF a bubble...woooohooo!) we all rushed off to the doctor to get our flu shots. Everyone was very brave, there were minimal tears, and we all got Snoopy band aids. Then we grabbed some burgers for dinner and stopped by the fountain area of the mall, where you and Ellie both watched the color-changing fountains in amazement!<br />
<br />
Thursday was another workout day. Luckily, after Mommy's early week breakdown about a schedule you MAY be getting there. You took a nap for Grandma and then took a nice aternoon nap just like I wanted you to. GREAT job baby Squish!<br />

What? That is crazy! You are getting so big so fast. I just love every second with you. Even the couple nights this week when you thought that it was party time in the middle of the night and didn't want to go back down to bed (yeah, luckily we've got that sorted out now too. 2 hours of trying to get you back don in the middle of the night means a zombie Mommy!). You are such a fun, silly, amazing and sweet little princess and I am so lucky that I get to be your Mommy. I can't wait to see you grow up, just slow down a bit, baby!<br />

I love you,<br />

<br />
You've been part of this crazy, crazy family for 35 weeks. Can you believe it? I can't!<br />
<br />
I feel like this week brought BIG changes. You are seeming less and less "infant-y" every day, if that makes sense. You are interacting so much more and playing, and it is amazing to see how well you fit in with the rest of this crazy family!<br />
<br />
So what did this week bring?<br />
<br />
Saturday, we stayed close to home to try to recouperate from a very bust weekend last weekend. Truth be told, that suitcases are still sitting in the hallway. Such is life with two little ones!<br />
<br />
You gave us some...er...excitement. Yup, we had to drop your crib down. You pulled up in it and stood there, smiling at me in the camera. Yikes! I thought I still had some time on that one! Your sister wasn't do that for another month. Those differences are so funny. You are definitely a bit head of her in gross motor skills, but a bit behind in fine motor skills. I love to see how unique you are, my Squish!<br />
<br />
We did do some baking, which was pretty fun! Your sister had a great time..."helping"...<br />
<br />
I can only imagine the help I will get when there are two of you! <br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
You two also had bubble bath time. You guys just love taking baths together. And, of course, I love seeing you two just giggle your behinds off together. Ellie blow bubbles at you, which you just find the absolute funniest thing ever!<br />
<br />

<br />
Sunday was the usual church/gym combo. I miss you guys so much on Sundays. They are tough. But I do love that you guys have bonding time with Dad. And that he plays lots and lots and lots with you two.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Monday was our day to get back in our groove. Like usual, we spent a lot of time outside getting some energy burned out of the two of you.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
You were kind of a stinker and fought naps, so we got to hang out a bit when your sister was down. You LOVE to be standing these days and are doing so well. You are even letting go. I fear that you may walk early. I am NOT ready for that.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Tuesday we ran a couple errands. You both did awesome. You are just such a content little one. Your sister, even though she's clearly in the midst of those lovely terrible twos, also did really awesome. I was a very lucky Mommy!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<br />
Speaking of interacting, you are now throwing balls for Truff too. Not sure exactly how he feels about that, but I am proud of you!<br />

<br />
We also enjoyed some more time playing with milk week pods. That keeps both of you entertained on walks so well. You think those pieces of fluff flying around are the most hysterical thing ever. <br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
Wednesday I went to work out, and then we came back home to catch naps before Ellie and I took off for swimming lessons. On days that we are out of the house, things are quite challenging. You really need two naps still, but you don't want to go down in the morning if we aren't at home, and then you turn into a mess later on. Poor baby girl. Hopefully we'll get this soon.<br />
<br />
You didn't sleep well at all that night. I think part of it was a cold, but you were up from 12:30-3:30. Yikes. That was brutal on me. And I know you had to be tired. But you were raring to go, so I drug myself to the gym and you hung out with Grandma. <br />

<br />
After much needed naps, we headed outside and played with leaves. I can't believe how brisk the air is already. I am not ready for this cold. You and Ellie had a great time, though. Ellie was matching leaves with her cards, and you were crinkling them in your fingers. I think you only ate a a few.<br />

<br />
<br />
Thursday night was a little crazy too. You did NOT want to go down. Finally at 11 you finally zonked out. Oy.<br />
<br />
Friday night we enjoyed our family time again, and went swimming when Daddy got home. You LOVE the water. You are so content floating around on your back. I just love my little water babies.<br />
<br />
So although this week posed some challenges with sleep (sick? wonder week? teething? just babies being babies? who knows!) I wouldn't trade it for the world. I love to see how excited you get over seeing new things and how funny you find your sister and Truff. That is the best. And although I miss my sleep, 3am baby snuggles, when we are the only ones up, are somewhat special. I keep reminding myself to soak in every one of these little moments. They just go by so incredibly fast.<br />
<br />
I love you, Scarlett!<br />
Love,<br />
Mommy<br />

<br />
You are 33 weeks old. And yay...I am on time with writing you your letter. Just wait for a minute while I adjust my SuperMommy cape. <br />
<br />
Just kidding! It is hard. And life gets crazy. But I am still constantly overwhelmed with how blessed I am to have this amazing family.<br />
<br />
So what adventures did this week hold? Well, Saturday I had a meeting in Grand Rapids, so you stayed home and played with Daddy.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrT7pKnXr86zsjsWWDB98aJ-Y7SEWY0gY8aZ_h5eI2jT6WOh7J3aznxHSyaNsciH0rgusJlmC70wIyPxaH-wljqvLRsAZhLJEncqNrnV-ksI3utF9iER3tz8pRlCQn6Pi-BE7w3hOZLWU7/s1600/IMG_20140913_155333127.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrT7pKnXr86zsjsWWDB98aJ-Y7SEWY0gY8aZ_h5eI2jT6WOh7J3aznxHSyaNsciH0rgusJlmC70wIyPxaH-wljqvLRsAZhLJEncqNrnV-ksI3utF9iER3tz8pRlCQn6Pi-BE7w3hOZLWU7/s1600/IMG_20140913_155333127.jpg" height="320" width="180" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
You kept him on his toes, and had lots of fun playing outside with Ellie and Truff. You just LOVE your swing.<br />
<br />
When I got home, I couldn't help but cuddle you, even if it did mean that I missed a good portion of the ND game. They won, and I got sweet Scarlett cuddles...perfect!<br />
<br />
Sunday we went to church, where I had to take you into the hall because you were making too many little happy cooing noises. You are the happiest, sweetest baby. People were even commenting on it in the hall, my little Squish!<br />
<br />
This made it extra hard for me to leave again for the afternoon to go to the gym. I just wanted to stay and play with you. But, again, you had a good time with Daddy. Of course, being up way past bedtime is still awfully hard on you. Princess. Sunday are just SO hard schedule-wise.<br />
<br />
Monday was our recoup day. We hung around the house and played. I love those days with my girls. We dressed up, and played with play doh, and went on walks, and read books. I cannot think of a better way to spend a dreary Monday. But, again, I had to go to the gym to help with the start up for our younger classes, so it was Daddy-time again. You were quite the stinker for Dad and would not go down. I felt so bad as everyone was pretty upset when I got home. Let's not do that again, okay?<br />

<br />
Tuesday we stuck around home too and played and enjoyed the nice weather. You are SO mobile these days, it is crazy. And you are FAST. You sure keep me on my toes!<br />
<br />
You also took your first bath in the big girl tub! Now truth be told, that was mostly because you, Miss Kickypants, make a MESS in your whale tub. You and your sister had a blast.<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
Wedensday we had a busy day where I went to the gym, and then Ellie and I went to swim lessons. You got some one on one time with Grandma and Grandpa, which I think everyone likes.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
Speaking of liking things, you are ALL about food these days. Pouches, in particular, are a big hit. You just suck them down. Chicken, pasta, veggies, you are such a great eater!<br />
<br />
Thursday we had a house guest come visit...Ginger the PUPPY. I need to specify because your sister thought we were getting Ginger, the rabbit from Sophia the first. She was VERY upset when we did not go to a castle to pick him up. And also very upset that despite her standing in front of him and telling him to HOP, he does, in fact, not really jump. Oh silly Bean. You guys are proving to be quite a bit of excitement for him!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
Today, I got a hair cut, so you got some more Grandma and Grandpa time. You were having a ton of fun watching Ellie play on the inflatable slide. Oh, and the giraffe toy that Grandma has that spits out balls? I total hit. You were belly laughing up a storm.<br />
<br />
So, baby Scarlett, that was this week. I must say, I really did hate being away from you guys so much. I really do enjoy spending time with you guys. You guys bring such love and laughter into my work, and I am so lucky I get to spend as much time with your girlies as I do.<br />
<br />
I love you, Squish!<br />

<br />
We've got bedtime routines down pretty well these days. Ryan gets Scarlett ready, while I play with Ellie a bit, then I nurse Scarlett and get her down while he gets Ellie ready for bed and reads her as many bedtime stories as needed. Then I get her, she nurses (yes, we are still doing that!) and she goes to bed.<br />
<br />
Last night was sweet overload. I came in and nursed her. He of course requested that I sing. Which I did. Just like every night. After awhile, I asked if she was ready for "tuckas" (I tuck her blanket in all around her). She told me "No, pray!" Of course, I forgot that step of the routine. So she laid her head on my shoulder and we prayed. "Cuddle." She wanted to cuddle more. Sweet baby girl! She snuggled into me soooo tight and I just held her and rocked her. Any time I tried to move my face away, she told me "NO. Cuddle." and pushed my cheek back against hers. This went on for at least a half hour.<br />
<br />
Even though I didn't want to, I forced myself to get up after quite some time (and a couple texts from Ryan asking if I was OK) and tucked her in. When I told her she was snug as a bug in a rug, I got a happy smile and a "Thanks, Mama."<br />
<br />
It doesn't get better than that.<br />
<br />
Love. That. Girl. To. Pieces.<br />
<br />
I am so lucky.<br />

<br />
Yay! We are back on the weekly letter train! I romise, I will try to be better. SOmetimes, being the Mommy of you awesome girlies just gets the best of me!<br />
<br />
So what happened this week?<br />
<br />
Well, Saturday was game day! The last ND-Michigan match up for the forseeable future, and you and your sister were READY!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwhFPLIhBneMaQaXMV2ZqiDxxUfPFNPQo5IMS1bzFs5Xvhw8_8JlFcPVD3-DBkULPcFDDDyZpw9xkQ559Mjdpv-_D6NvEURdHW_fejgOC30oNDwrsFheeeBzBhnpQBaawRpSsC5qAlkQ_J/s1600/IMG_20140906_094402.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwhFPLIhBneMaQaXMV2ZqiDxxUfPFNPQo5IMS1bzFs5Xvhw8_8JlFcPVD3-DBkULPcFDDDyZpw9xkQ559Mjdpv-_D6NvEURdHW_fejgOC30oNDwrsFheeeBzBhnpQBaawRpSsC5qAlkQ_J/s1600/IMG_20140906_094402.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
We did a family run to West End, where you got doted on and your sister got donuts, and then we went grocery shopping. You get to sit in the cart like a big girl now, which you love. Although you do try to gra your sister's snack right out of her hand. I am sure you'll be eating your own goldfish soon enough!<br />
<br />
Then it was home for naps and play time around the house. Since you are craling all over the place, you are also getting into EVERYTHING. Nothing is safe from your grasp, little one. <br />
<br />
We ut you guys to bed and watched the game. Woooohoooo! Shut out! Go Irish!<br />
<br />
The next day we did church like normal. You were fussy so you spent time with Dad in the hallway, then zonked in the car and stayed out for over an hour. I barely had time to feed you before I had to run out to practice.<br />
<br />
You did get to come to the gym for a bit, which you enjoyed. I think you missed your cheer family too.<br />
<br />
Sundays are hard on us all though, and you were VERY overtired by the time you got home. I don't like you being that upset and it was incredibly hard on me to hear your sniffles as I fed ou before bed too.<br />
<br />
Monday was a much needed recoup day. We spent lots of time outside enjoying the swinset and the beautiful weather. I don't think we have many days this nice left!<br />

<br />
<br />
Tuesday I had a doctor's appointment, so you went to see Grandma. You love watching Ellie blow bubbles. You give all sorts of belly laughs for that. And you are almost going from a crawling position to sitting. What? Slow down, little Squish!<br />
<br />
Wednesday I had to meet with Janel and Lori at the gym, so you and your sister tagged along. You guys had a blast getting into mischief. Then, you hung out with Grandma while Ellie and I went to swim lessons. I think you enjoyed some 1-on-1 time without the blonde monster there.<br />
<br />
Thursday I worked out and then we all came home and hung out at home. It was a dreary, nasty day. I don't know what happened to summer! Then when Daddy got home, we took off to the hospital since Great Grandpa Walt was in there due to some broken ribs. You guys were both dolls, and you especially hammed it up for him, giving him lots of belly laughs while he tickled your toes. To reward you guys for being so good, we hit the Chocolate cafe afterwards. Daddy even snuck you some cookie, while your sister chowed down.<br />
<br />
<br />

<br />
Your sister proved again she has quite the memory, running through the cafe looking for the Easter bunny. Of course, the last time we were there with you guys was Easter, but I still can't believe she remembered that from April. She doesn't forget anything! You better be careful, squish!<br />
<br />
The weather still stunk on Friday, so I worked out and then when Daddy got home, we headed to the Y again to go swim. You loved it and were so content floating around in the warm water. It was awesome to spent time swimming with my favorite little fishies!<br />

So, Miss Scarlett, we are back to these updates, and I hope to continue being much more "on time". But I will say, whether I have time to sit down and blog or not, that I love every minute of being your Mommy. You are such a sweet girl, and so much fun.<br />
<br />
I love you Squish!<br />

Life has just been hectic, and blogging has taken a back seat. I am getting back on the wagon, though. I have a lot of posts in draft mode, and I'll be plugging along on even more in the next couple weeks.<br />
<br />
In the meantime, I can just say the kids are exhausting. But they are the best!Jamihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13827649444533546115noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1375265967606929249.post-59184698904194060882014-09-04T13:33:00.000-07:002014-09-09T13:34:06.927-07:00The swingsetSo, we've been going back and forth for a good 6 months now about swingsets. Build it vs. buy it. What do we want? Why are they like a billion dollars?<br />
<br />
So we settled for getting a Step 2 plastic play "castle" this summer. Ellie seemed to like that just fine. We actually picked up another similar plastic play structure at a friends' garage sale.<br />
<br />
But then, the week before the BIG birthday party, Ryan was looking through some stuff of Craigslist and came across an ad for a used Rainbow playset. And it looked AWESOME. Big, spiral enclosed slide, 4 swing areas, another slide, etc. So even though it was still expensive used, we decided to take a look.<br />
<br />
<br />
Well, Ellie fell in love. And so did we. So the weekend of the party, Ryan, with the help of both Grandpas, set out to transport this behemoth of a swingset.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Plus, it was a big hit at the party. Now if we could just get the neighbors to stop referring to our yard as "Edwardsburg Disneyland"...Jamihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13827649444533546115noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1375265967606929249.post-58161871289960909342014-09-01T04:35:00.000-07:002014-09-10T04:36:14.170-07:00Dear Ellie,Dear Ellie,<br />
<br />
You are 2 today, sweet princess! It is so hard to believe. Time really does go so fast. You are not a little baby anymore. You are a spirited, funny, smart little girl who has me laughing about a million times and day, and sometimes wanting to pull my hair out too!<br />
<br />
Sometimes when I am rocking you to sleep, and you remind me that I need to start singing, I think back to sitting in that same rocking chair with you when you were a tiny little one. I remember how your face would twitch into a smile as you fell asleep. And I wonder how my little baby bird grew up so fast. But the coolest thing is, as much as I miss tiny Ellie, I just love toddler Ellie so much that it isn't even funny. The conversations you have, how you have tea parties, and tickle fights and rock your baby dolls to sleep...those things are just so amazing to see. So while I sometimes wish you wouldn't grow up so fast, I also wouldn't exactly wish to keep you little.<br />
<br />
Every day I still feel incredibly overwhelmed and blessed that I get to be your Mom. You bring so much joy to everyone around you, and your Dad and I could just not be more proud. Of course, I can also throw in that you are the world's best big sister...most of the time.<br />
<br />
I hope you always stay as curious as you are now. I hope you never lose the imagination that dreams up dragons outside your window. I hope you keep your Dad's memory, so you remind me 3 months later that we saw a frog on THAT window. I hope you continue to care about others, just like you care about me and bring me my pretend coffee to drink. I hope you stay fearless. Or at least mostly fearless. My poor heart can't take your fearlessness sometimes. And I hope you always keep the energy to go down the slide again. Or two more times. Or five more times.<br />
<br />
You are one amazing little girl, Miss Ellorie Mae Mason. And I love you to pieces. Happy birthday, princess!<br />
<br />
I love you,<br />

<br />
Let me tell you, we were NOT sure how this was going to go. I mean come on, she's not even 2 yet. And you want her to walk down the aisle?<br />
<br />
Thankfully Aunt Mandy was super-cool about everything. She didn't really care if she made it down the aisle. Or not. Or walked down the aisle and pulled her dress up over her head. No big deal either way.<br />
<br />
Of course WE cared a little more. So both Ryan and I had a stash of white jelly beans. JUST in case.<br />
<br />
The weekend started out with the rehearsal. Ellie did awesome walking down the aisle with the other flower girl, Maysie. <br />
<br />

<br />
Okay, but one thing I didn't prep myself for. Catholic wedding. Holy water.And we're not just talking a little fountain. NOPE. Kiddie pool sized. See it behind them in the pic? Oy. So yes, I spent most of the time trying to keep Ellie out of that. Keep this in mind for later.<br />
<br />
So, after the rehearsal, we headed to a cute little restaurant for dinner. Dinner was AWESOME. And Ellie got cupcakes. And Uncle Ryan taught her to eat cupcakes frosting first. Greeeeeeat.<br />
<br />
The next day, we got up and headed to IHOP for some breakfast. Mandy should be thankful that we cleaned up her strawberry pancake explosion.<br />
<br />
Then it was time to get ready for the wedding. We had to be ready to go at noon for a 2pm wedding. Yup, right in the middle of nap time. This was going to be just a bundle of fun...<br />
<br />
Ellie handled it like a champ though. Look how beautiful she looked<br />

<br />
Sigh. Pretty girl. She was completely delirious, though, and the church had fun hallways and ramps so she was pretty much a wild woman running all over. And tackling her fellow flower girl. Oh, bean...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
She did make Aunt Mandy's day though. She kept following around calling her "Pwincess". The first time she saw her was so cute. She was in awe of the pwincess.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Now, walking down the aisle. All was well, until about 5 minutes before she was set to go. She was getting a little rambunctious, so the ring bearer tried to "help" by showing her how to splash in the holy water pool. Oh. My. Goodness. Kiss. Of. Death. So of course she wanted to climb in. And splash. And make a mess. Of course, I had successfully kept her from this for hours and then 5 minues before THE WALK it all gets screwed up. So of course in protest, she starts running down the hallway. Oy. Aunt Janel was able to get her refocused though, and she walked down the aisle like a pro. <br />

After the ceremony and church pics, we went over to a local park for pics. Ellie-no-nap snoozed in the car...<br />

Poor tired baby. Needless to say, she was not in a great mood for pics. Luckily, they didn't really need us, so we attempted to take a couple of our own. She was NOT cooperative. BUT, as luck would have it, we managed to get THE pic. <br />

Love this one. It reminds me of Cinderella running from the ball. Perfect.<br />
<br />
The reception was fun. E did not appreciate waiting for dinner. Shocker. But she did love to dance. And go up and down the huge staircase. But the best part of the night? Ellie asked Ryan to dance with her during the Bride/daddy dance. Ugh, yeah. Tears everywhere.<br />
<br />
But then, more dancing shenanigans. Delirious flowergirls are super funny!<br />

Still catching up...<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Dear Scarlett,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Well I am still trying to catch up! You and your sister keep me a little busy these days, and so I am getting a bit behind on your letters. In good news, though, even though I stink about writing about all the fun we are having, we are STILL having so much fun that I cannot stand it. You and your sister are the best!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So, let's start with Saturday, the 14th. It was a hot day, and we decided to check one thing off our summer bucket list...strawberry picking! You spent most of the time just checking things out from the beco, but your sister had a blast. Grandma and Grandpa Mason kept one strawberry in each hand for her! I thought she was going to turn into a strawberry! Don't worry, Smoosh, I am sure you will be joining her next year!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs794d1wfcL_eYEHZ4rPfjSy9yhBZAG7MEsKfZ3iy3A4vNujqXxH-l3_fGD-qLCugMDxiXQtFoa9YuUchbqGHY12udc6qFU7cpLF-UtmEKcP2zhSQafkF2LruXscLE90DomR7xMAZXgZfX/s1600/10463672_894338883916963_4344858022342833255_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs794d1wfcL_eYEHZ4rPfjSy9yhBZAG7MEsKfZ3iy3A4vNujqXxH-l3_fGD-qLCugMDxiXQtFoa9YuUchbqGHY12udc6qFU7cpLF-UtmEKcP2zhSQafkF2LruXscLE90DomR7xMAZXgZfX/s1600/10463672_894338883916963_4344858022342833255_o.jpg" height="320" width="180" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After that, we went up to the lake to rinse Miss Ellie off. Dad and Ellie played in the water and you and I cuddled on the deck. You enjoyed the fresh air! You two snoozed a little in the car, then it was off to a couple graduation parties. You were quite the charmer as usual, giving your big, drooly grins to anyone who as holding you!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Sunday was Father's day, so we got the opportunity to celebrate the fact that you and Ellie have the BEST dad! I love watching him with you, he is just smitten over you girls! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-db5aEtzWSsA/U6TogMIg_VI/AAAAAAAAL-s/64EKUcoqfVk/s1600/%255BUNSET%255D" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-db5aEtzWSsA/U6TogMIg_VI/AAAAAAAAL-s/64EKUcoqfVk/s1600/%255BUNSET%255D" height="179" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Monday we decided to hit the park. Of course your sister loved burning off some energy (and seeing a train even!) You were pretty content as usual and happy to be cuddled and talk to, and just take in everything around you. In the afternoon we played outside at home. Daddy moved my swing up by Ellie's playhouse so we can relax in that while Ellie is climbing and sliding. You two like cuddling in it together, too. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dvRamD-2I1M/U6ToPRaGurI/AAAAAAAAL-k/6JBPw4iGBXY/s1600/%255BUNSET%255D" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dvRamD-2I1M/U6ToPRaGurI/AAAAAAAAL-k/6JBPw4iGBXY/s1600/%255BUNSET%255D" height="179" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Tuesday we decided to go strawberry picking AGAIN, since we pretty much had already polished off the strawberries we picked on Saturday. I guess Ellie takes after Mommy and Daddy in being strawberry monsters. There was a nice breeze so you snoozed in your carseat. I was able to pick some berries so that we actually have some to freeze, and your sister, of course was happy as a clam to eat more berries! </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After that, you guys headed back to Grandma's while I headed to the gym for practice. Grandma and Grandpa wore you guys out, because you both took great naps.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GP2zbx14zhg/U6Tn-tUnUOI/AAAAAAAAL-c/bq6_mf7e2nQ/s1600/IMAG9754" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GP2zbx14zhg/U6Tn-tUnUOI/AAAAAAAAL-c/bq6_mf7e2nQ/s1600/IMAG9754" height="179" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Wednesday you were up a bit early. No problem, that just means that I got some sweet cuddle time before your sister got up. You are so happy in the mornings, my little Squish! I love you. Your happy little smile starts my day off right!</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PIO621aeGgI/U6Tnt5_yP8I/AAAAAAAAL-U/GJBuXsOwZHc/s1600/IMAG9757" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PIO621aeGgI/U6Tnt5_yP8I/AAAAAAAAL-U/GJBuXsOwZHc/s1600/IMAG9757" height="179" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We had some errands to run, then it was back home for nap time. Well, except storms rolled through and the power went out. Arg. Not good when we have a toddler who depends on her noise machines and a baby who depends on her swing. So suffice it to say it was a bit of a long afternoon for us all. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Thursday we headed to the breastfeeding coalition meeting. We took Ellie too, which was quite an adventure. She wanted to be a good big sister and play with ALL of the babies. We got you weighed and you are still perfectly on track, hovering around that 50th percentile point at 14lbs 11oz. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You also started playing with the exersaucer after I dug it out for you. You love it! Now if I could just get your sister to stop trying to climb in. She can climb in, but not out...which is pretty hysterical to us both....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Friday I ad to go to Chicago, so you spent the day with Grandma and Grandpa. I know that they love spending time with you and your sister, but I have to tell you. I miss you so much when I'm not with you. You two really are my sunshine. I was very glad to get home even after a LOOOOOONG day and cuddle with my favorite girlies.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So that is week 20, princess! More to come as I get back on track...</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I love you, </div>

Dear Scarlett,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm chugging along, catching up with these posts. Wooohoooo! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So when I left off in your 18 week post, we were on our way to Lansing for the cheer competition. Like I said, you were a trooper with the trip, even though you were in unfamiliar enironments and had your schedule thrown WAAAAAY off. We are so lucky that both you and your sister deal so well with all the craziness that is our lives.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
On Saturday, Daddy and I were at the competition all day. You got to play with Grandma and Grandpa all day! You did stop by the competition a couple times so I could feed you. The pump doesn't agree with either of us these days. I can't get much out, and you don't really like to take bottles, so we try to avoid that whenever possible. You did get a couple of bottles that I had pumped previously, but those couple "live" feedings saved us both. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Speaking of which...4.5 months and ZERO formula for you. I feel so proud that neither your sister or you have ever had formula. And I feel incredibly fortunate that nursing has been so easy with both of you. The daughter of one of Daddy's co-workers who is just a couple weeks older than you had to get a feeding tube...and I just can't image how difficult that must be. I am so thankful that you both have (knock on wood) been incredibly healthy. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You were awesome in the hotel again on Saturday night! Phew! What a relief! The last state competition when you were still an inside baby, your sister kept us up ALL night, so I am very thankful that we were all able to get some much needed rest. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Sunday was more of the same. Everyone loved seeing you and meeting you. And although you were a little crabbier than normal, you still gave a ton of your super sweet smiles and charmed them all. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Monday we all needed some down time from the long weekend, so we stayed around home. You and Ellie are spending a lot of time playing together. When I am holding you sometimes, especially in the morning, she demands "Baby, LAY DOWN!" She loves laying down and playing with you, and talking to you in her high-pitched baby voice. It is the sweetest thing. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-y6rtwrEoVck/U6Tow2Y0NwI/AAAAAAAAL-0/SZWjzBNBf-U/s1600/%255BUNSET%255D" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-y6rtwrEoVck/U6Tow2Y0NwI/AAAAAAAAL-0/SZWjzBNBf-U/s1600/%255BUNSET%255D" height="320" width="179" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Speaking of sweetest thing, this is probably one of my favorite pictures of you two: </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BDkV1ViUvR4/U6TpXOcM8MI/AAAAAAAAL_E/ns2-GLFcqtc/s1600/%255BUNSET%255D" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BDkV1ViUvR4/U6TpXOcM8MI/AAAAAAAAL_E/ns2-GLFcqtc/s1600/%255BUNSET%255D" height="320" width="179" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Yes, you really are sucking her thumb. How is that for teamwork? You two will continue to be the dynamic duo as you grow up, I am sure!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Tuesday we ran a couple errands. Errands are getting a bit easier with the two of you, usually. Either that or I am getting immune to the chaos. Probably a little of both. Either way, I'll take any successful Target trip I can get!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Wednesday was more cuddle time, and getting back to normal from the crazy weekend. You are starting to get on more of a schedule, where you do 3-4 shorter naps a day. It is rare that I get the 2-3 hour naps I once got from you now. Oh well, at least there is always extra snuggle time to be had!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-67LCoBEL1V4/U6TppalvMkI/AAAAAAAAL_M/eqhaplyVI0A/s1600/%255BUNSET%255D" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-67LCoBEL1V4/U6TppalvMkI/AAAAAAAAL_M/eqhaplyVI0A/s1600/%255BUNSET%255D" height="179" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Thursday continue our lazy week of hanging around home. While we may not be going anywhere, we certainly still do a lot. We typically take 2-3 walks a day, plus play outside. Things can get a little crazy for sure!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5ED0x2Rb67Q/U6TpFJAk2QI/AAAAAAAAL-8/tJ1dHXyMEik/s1600/%255BUNSET%255D" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5ED0x2Rb67Q/U6TpFJAk2QI/AAAAAAAAL-8/tJ1dHXyMEik/s1600/%255BUNSET%255D" height="320" width="179" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Friday you got to spend some time with Grandma while I worked out. You were a very good girl and still love looking at that fan, especially when you are having your diaper changed! I made it through the work out and even got to run a couple errands before you ladies were ready to come home and take a nap. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
When Daddy got home, however, the real fun started! You got to go for your first cobra ride! Daddy loved piling all five of us in the car and driving around the neighborhood. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
What else is new? Well you are really getting into toys. You are grabbing and holding onto all sorts of stuff. O-balls, soft toys, teethers...which also brings us to this teething possibility thing. You are a drooly mess and you want to chew on things CONSTANTLY. Therefore people are taking bets that you are teething. Which seems crazy to me, but I'll roll with it. I, of course, thought Ellie was teething at this stage (but admittedly not this much!) and those teeth didn't show up on her until 14 months. So either you really are the anti-Ellie and are going to be totally different, or you are a big faker!<br />
<br />
So, Squish, that is 19 weeks. I love that you are interacting more with others and your environment, even if that means I need to stay on my toes with you a bit more. I love you to pieces and wouldn't change a single thing about you...well except maybe I'd slow down how fast time is going by and you are growing up!<br />
<br />
I love you so much, Scarlett!<br />

Daily she cracks me up with something she says. Here are a couple favorites from the past couple weeks:<br />
<br />
-Ellie was slamming her palm down on her scrambled eggs yelling "HATCH, birdie, HATCH" Um, it is a little late for that now, Ellie<br />
<br />
-"Brush teeth" CONSTANTLY. Oh, but only with her "Pony" toothbrush. And lots of "paste". And depending on the day, the pony is either Cody or Trigger, the two horses down the street.<br />
<br />
-To Scalett: "No cry, baby! Shopping!" Apparently she is well versed at retail therapy.<br />
<br />
-Ellie: "Momma, sing!" So I start the Itsy Bitsy Spider.<br />
"No. Different." So I try The Wheels on the Bus.<br />
"NO." Old MacDonald?<br />
"NOOOO" *puts hands over ears* "Different" "This This" points to stereo.<br />
Oh, okay. I didn't realize I lived with the not-yet-2-year-old version of Simon Cowell.<br />
<br />
-Oh, and she is putting things together. "Baby eat boob". Oh please don't say that in public. Sigh.<br />
<br />
-Another favorite with Scarlett: we were on a walk with Ellie walking and Scarlett in the beco. At one point Ellie started asking for "up, up!" So I picked her up. Baby on front, toddler on the hip, leash in the hand, it was quite a sight. But then Ellie grabbed Scarlett's hand and said "High FIE!" and high-fived her...then without missing a beat "KNUCLES" and 'bumped' her. Ha!<br />
<br />
She is so stinking funny. I love her to pieces!<br />

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Dear Baby Scarlett,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It is time for me to play catch up on these letters and get to writing about your 18th week. We have been so busy that I've gotten a bit behind. The combo of you and your sister makes for very full hands for me most days. That, blended with a crazy schedule and me trying to spend time with you both in the "present" and you see why I am a little behind. No worries, I'll catch up slowly but surely!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So, let's start off when you were exactly 18 weeks and 1 day old. It was the very last weekend we would have "free" for awhile, so we decided to head up to the beach. Your sister loved to play in the the splash pad. You were content to watch her from your blanket. You are such a happy girl...I LOVE that about you!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6kzpXrVhofLGdg6yIghSkHfqg1oWpuRbOz5qNYhZIyF7uXE7I8NkkjX2arUksT59dSq4iCqnlEaIi442kfhPcxbNNSos84P9Nd7lvzt_Ex-7meh_2V5W4Fc_qU3J5cV4PDVum3a8AUeni/s1600/10372020_885486888135496_8242971336265899478_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6kzpXrVhofLGdg6yIghSkHfqg1oWpuRbOz5qNYhZIyF7uXE7I8NkkjX2arUksT59dSq4iCqnlEaIi442kfhPcxbNNSos84P9Nd7lvzt_Ex-7meh_2V5W4Fc_qU3J5cV4PDVum3a8AUeni/s1600/10372020_885486888135496_8242971336265899478_n.jpg" height="214" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We, of course, had to go get pizza. Between you and your sister, I think you managed to entertain the entire section of the restaurant that we were in. You both certainly have a way about you! One lady even stopped to tell us how blessed we were to have such amazing little girls. This woman didn't even know the half of it, but Daddy and I agree!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You also "officially" turned 4 months! I just can't believe it. You are losing a lot of your "newborn" look and turning into my cute little chunky monkey!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Monday was a little bit of a rough day. You had your 4 month doctor's appointment. Which...of course, meant more shots. I know they are necessary, but seeing my little Squish hurt is so heartbreaking. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lXfpAQQxcsk/U6T9xT02I2I/AAAAAAAAL_0/uhbRgQ2uIW8/s1600/%255BUNSET%255D" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lXfpAQQxcsk/U6T9xT02I2I/AAAAAAAAL_0/uhbRgQ2uIW8/s1600/%255BUNSET%255D" height="179" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
The good news is that you tolerated them WAY better than last time. No little whimpers, thank goodness! And everything else looks perfect. You were 13lbs 13oz (56th percentile) had a head circumference of 16 inches (41st percentile) and...get this, my supermodel...25.5 inches tall! Whoa! 90th percentile. Your sister wasn't even that tall at 6 months!<br />
<br />
Speaking of your sister, Ellie came to the appointment too, and was very big on helping. She helped measure you, and sat by your head and gave you love while you got your shots. She is such a super big sister to you, and she hates to see you upset too. She loves to tell everyone very dramatically "OH NO! Baby CRY!"<br />
<br />
Of course after the appointment, all any of us wanted to do was just cuddle up a storm. So, that is pretty much what we did for the rest of the day. I won't complain at all to days like that, little love!<br />
<br />
Tuesday we had a much needed "down" day. We spent time around the house, and spend a LOT of time outside. Since your sister LOVES it outside, we spend a ton of time out there. You love to chill out on your blanket and just watch everything. I can just see that little brain taking everything in! Of course keeping you out of the sun is a trick, but we make it work.<br />
<br />
By Wednesday, things were going a little crazy in our house. I was trying to prep for a weekend away with both of you, plus competition stuff. It was just crazy! You had a couple of rough nights with sleep, which turned me into a zombie. Overall, just not a great stretch of time, and I got VERY overwhelmed. I am so thankful that in times like that, your Daddy is such a rockstar and so good about helping out to make sure that everything gets done!<br />
<br />
Of course, I can now totally identify when I get into crazy overwhelmed mode. I mean, life is busy, but when I stop taking time to look at this face? That is when things get bad. I have to keep reminding myself that everything else can wait. Laundry may never really get folded, and there may always be half a box worth of stray cheerios scattered around the living room, but THIS, THIS is what is important right here.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-U-Y3WZK5dqo/U6TqZVs4x2I/AAAAAAAAL_k/6PefpcZzwTg/s1600/%255BUNSET%255D" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-U-Y3WZK5dqo/U6TqZVs4x2I/AAAAAAAAL_k/6PefpcZzwTg/s1600/%255BUNSET%255D" height="179" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Thursday we ran some errands to prep for the weekend. You were amazing and happy to chill out in your carseat the entire time, which certainly made things easier on me!<br />
<br />
Thursday night you got to meet your Aunt Stephanie! Yay! She was in town for a wedding, so we got pizza and ice cream with her. Even though she isn't much of a "baby person" you managed to charm her like you always do.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Friday it was off to Lansing for a cheer competition. This is the first one you've been at as an outside baby, and there were so many people waiting to meet you it was crazy. You were a doll on the long car ride, and went to bed pretty well in the hotel room. Of course, that MAY have something to do with the fact that we got the motor in your rock n play replaced. It had stopped vibrating you! Apparently you like to shake! Why didn't I think of that?</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So, sweet girl, that was week 18. Crazy, and hectic and definitely overwhelming at times. But even in those crazy times, I can't help but realize how lucky I am. Like the lady at the restaurant said, I get to me the Mommy of 2 amazing little girls. I love seeing you learn and grow. And I love YOU so, SO much!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

I love you Smoosh!</div>

I am so behind with these. I have a bajillion drafts started. I will be plugging away on these in the next couple days, so stay tuned!Jamihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13827649444533546115noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1375265967606929249.post-40327533964924586162014-05-30T03:51:00.000-07:002014-06-03T03:51:46.952-07:00You are 16, going on 17...Dear Baby Scarlett,<br />
<br />
Well, you are not 16 weeks, you ARE actually 17 now. I've been so good at writing your letters and keeping on top of it. Then the last couple weeks happened. I've been a bit of a mess on a couple different fronts, and, well, last week's letter bit the dust.<br />
<br />
To make up for it, though, this week's will be obnoxiously long and contain a bazillion pictures. Which, let's be honest, is most of the reason why anyone follows along with this blog. They wanna see pictures! So I will oblige.<br />
<br />
Alright. Let's start at last Friday. Well, we went up to Grandma and Grandpa Mason's house. We went out to eat and then back to their place to let your sister run amok. You did great, even though it was WAY past bedtime. You gave Grandma and Grandpa sweet snuggles, as always.<br />
<br />
Saturday we had our family "Mother's Day", which I already posted about. We got some amazing pics of you, pretty girl! You were kind of a crab during dinner, though, and only wanted to be held by Dad. You are SUCH a Daddy's girl. He can calm you down immediately, just by picking you up. I don't blame you, he is pretty cool.<br />
<br />
Saturday night I was feeling REALLY icky as I overdid it at my bootcamp class Friday, so we stayed home in the morning, then I went to the gym in the afternoon, and you joined later. We had more Daddy drama! You were losing it at one point out in the waiting area. Daddy walked out and they told him you had a belly ache. He picked you up and you stopped crying immediately. Nope, you just were bored and wanted Dad. I don't really understand why people don't get that...babies cry, and babies will be babies. It is not like they are sick or hungry every time they cry. Sigh.<br />
<br />
Monday we enjoyed the nice weather by hitting the park. I decided that we were going to do a week with no TV, so we hit a bunch of parks. I really worry about the amount of TV you are exposed to, especially because your sister had so little exposure to TV when she was small, and it has been shown to inhibit brain development and vocab skills. Hopefully this week will be a "reset" button for us all.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LeD1ECtvh0s/U4k53oNdN3I/AAAAAAAAL5w/DWQ__t0G5WY/s1600/IMAG8807" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LeD1ECtvh0s/U4k53oNdN3I/AAAAAAAAL5w/DWQ__t0G5WY/s1600/IMAG8807" height="179" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Anyway, we enjoyed checking out a new park. Your sister had a blast climbing and sliding. And you chilled with me in the shade and watched her!<br />
<br />
Tuesday was another day and another park. We went to riverfront to walk and play! You were a doll, as usual and had fun looking around, taking it all in.<br />
<br />
That night we decided to head to the park again with a picnic dinner. We had a nice little picnic and everyone enjoyed some much needed family time.<br />
<br />
Wednesday we stuck close to home, but enjoyed some sprinkler time. Are you seeing a pattern here? We are outside. A LOT. Your sister loves it, and I have to say, you love stretching out on my new outdoor blanket and just taking in everything around you.<br />
<br />
Thurs we headed out to the mall to do some shopping You were a good girl, and hammed it up! Between you and your sister, we sure do get lots of attention these days. I even got asked for the first time this week if you guys are twins! Ugh...no. Ellie is running and you are not even sitting up. I am sure I'll be getting that question more and more as you grow. Anyway, you found a hat that you liked, and proceeded to show off your ear-to-ear grin for everyone in the store. The cuteness? Oh. my. goodness.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Thursday night I had a little bit of a rough time (not related to you two!) so we headed up to the beach for some family play time. We stopped at our favorite sandwich shop and you two flirted with the other customers. Your Daddy and I really are in some serious trouble as you two get older! Then we hit the beach. Ellie had fun climbing and sliding on the playground equipment. And you even got to swing a little with me. Overall it was a great way to make an icky day much better!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Friday I had to deal with some work drama (icky) but you were very patient with me and put a big smile on my face when it was all over. You sure are good at that, Smoosh. I keep telling Daddy that Smoosh snuggles are like some kind of drug...definitely the best mood-enhancer there has ever been!<br />
<br />
Saturday was the start of an awesome weekend! We were able to spend lots of time as a family and have lots of fun. Those are the BEST weekends! We started out with a trip to the Farmer's Market. Your sister was into everything, as usual, and you enjoyed looking around, seeing all the new things. Daddy and I picked up some of our favorite coffee...which we definitely need with you two crazy girls to try to keep up with! Then it was back home for naps while I ran to the gym, and then to top the day off, we went to Urban Swirl for some fro-yo. Of course, you had to just watch the chocolatey disaster, but I cannot wait until I have 2 hot fudgey messes on my hands!<br />
<br />
Sunday after church we headed up to Grandma and Grandpa Mason's. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed some lake time.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
All that fresh air did you in, though, because you zonked out on my chest. There is nothing better than a beautiful day being curled up with my Squish!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3C7n8uXj350/U4k5y1ErsFI/AAAAAAAAL5E/zya0VA0MlsM/s1600/IMAG9019" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3C7n8uXj350/U4k5y1ErsFI/AAAAAAAAL5E/zya0VA0MlsM/s1600/IMAG9019" height="179" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After that, you guys went to Grandma and Grandpa Zaher's while Daddy and I went to the gym. They had a lot of fun with you two, even when you got a little bit fussy. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Monday was Memorial Day, and we were up early to be Daddy's little cheerleaders. He was doing a race called the Murph. He did a mile run, 100 pull ups, 200 push ups and 300 squats followed by another mile run. Isn't that crazy? He finished it in under and hour. Now that is what I call SuperDad! And he even *kinda* had the strength left to pose for a picture with you two.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QmwUu3mZnvU/U4k5yAEX2YI/AAAAAAAAL48/oSjHjIU5K8s/s1600/IMAG9037" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QmwUu3mZnvU/U4k5yAEX2YI/AAAAAAAAL48/oSjHjIU5K8s/s1600/IMAG9037" height="320" width="179" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
After a quick stop home for Daddy to shower, we hit the parade. The sun was shining, and you were...sleeping. That's right, you slept through most of your first parade. Sirens and all! Ellie had a lot of fun with her BFF Lily.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEio_jaXJEB9RNCMSlL4tMsWa81jN6F3PZ6NUDSO1FqcG5YPumZDczqAoVB_b3IApGwoXd-eLFaupn03KLSFjDLjk1mNjVLq41xvbtnDAhCrJHDORzZGfEywqLq-OuY9kSaeNm4SnKTOLTZB/s1600/10402904_10203229336827776_5821121028013025018_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEio_jaXJEB9RNCMSlL4tMsWa81jN6F3PZ6NUDSO1FqcG5YPumZDczqAoVB_b3IApGwoXd-eLFaupn03KLSFjDLjk1mNjVLq41xvbtnDAhCrJHDORzZGfEywqLq-OuY9kSaeNm4SnKTOLTZB/s1600/10402904_10203229336827776_5821121028013025018_n.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After naptime we trekked to Toys R Us. We finally gave in and got a playset for Ellie. The girl is a climbing/sliding monster, and we definitely needed a way for her to get some of her energy out. The good news is that she LOVES it, and so we've spent a lot of time outdoors since that point. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Tuesday you gave me a couple little scares. There were some abnormal things about you, and while none of them would concern me ALONE, put together I got a little concerned that my Smoosh wasn't feeling so well. First, you went about 7 hours overnight without wetting your diaper. Also, you were up at about 4am, and those kind of middle-of-the-night wake ups are VERY uncommon for you. Then, you spit up a couple times BIG TIME...and you are not normally a spitter. See how you worried me? So we just spent the day having lots of cuddle time. You kept a smile on your face through it all, even if you weren't feeling the greatest. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-MF7aUFm15Rc/U4k5v9W55VI/AAAAAAAAL40/Dyf22XeABCA/s1600/IMAG9110" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-MF7aUFm15Rc/U4k5v9W55VI/AAAAAAAAL40/Dyf22XeABCA/s1600/IMAG9110" height="179" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Wednesday it seemed like you definitely felt better...except for the sleep thing! I fully admit that your amazing sleeping habits have spoiled the crap out of me. So you being up twice, 12:30-2 and then again at 4:30 made for a very rough night and tired Momma! It made for a tired Smoosh too, as you would zonk any time, any place after that!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hd9jJmOO0Ns/U4k5rv2go6I/AAAAAAAAL4M/srZ_RwmnFig/s1600/IMAG9206" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hd9jJmOO0Ns/U4k5rv2go6I/AAAAAAAAL4M/srZ_RwmnFig/s1600/IMAG9206" height="320" width="179" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And while being tired really does stink, seeing THIS smile makes it all worth it. Oh how I love you, little one!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I was really worried that the last couple nights of poor sleep were the introduction to the dreaded 4 month sleep regression. With Ellie, that phase was BRUTAL. Easily the hardest time in her infancy. I'm telling you, new moms need help at 4 months. That is when people should be arranging meals, etc. Everyone expects that you have it together, and it is like you hit a wall or something. BUT, I am happy to say, Thursday we were back to our good sleep patterns and so Daddy and I got at least a little bit of much-needed rest. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

Friday it was a gorgeous day, so we hit the zoo! I love doing fun activities with my favorite girls! Ellie got to play on the playground while we cuddled, and see the animals. She was really into the tiger this time! And the kangaroo exhibit as open, so we got to see them hop, hop, hop, although I think she was more excited about the stray bunny that ran across the grass! Go figure!</div>

<br />
What else is going on these days? Well, since you are getting more and more aware and alert, you are loving your big brother. He likes you too, and keeps trying to share his toys with you. You know, by placing them over your head. Really, Smoosh, your autobiography needs to be titled "Survivor" or something similar. Because both of your siblings equate "sharing" with "smothering".<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
But Truff does love you, a lot. He loves to do tummy time with you, although he is a blanket hog and usually takes up most of your blanket space. You like looking at him, even more than your mirror!</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And he even shares Daddy's lap with you. He doesn't mind getting nice and close, as you don't have the reflexes to pull his fur like, AHEM, someone we know...</div>

You are also becoming a PRO roller. Still always back to front though. Then you typially get angry that you are on your belly. Silly girl. I assume you'll be rolling the other way soon, but not yet!<br />
<br />
You and your sister? Stinking adorable. You IDOLIZE her already. You smile at her like crazy, and she is so good at getting you to stop crying.<br />

<br />
One little mistake I did make this week: you and Ellie woke up about the same time, so I went and got you and then took you to Ellie's room and set you in her crib while I got her changed and read for breakfast. Uh, now Ellie expects to see you every time she wakes up. And after I change her she wants to be back in the crib so she can play with you. I love it! I hope you two are this inseparable always.<br />

Of course, there are also sometimes issues. Ellie still has a little trouble with sharing and tries to take your toys. We're working on it. Oh, and we had a funny conversation with Ellie at dinner:<br />
<br />
"Do you love Truffle?" "Yes"<br />
"Do you love Daddy" "Yup!"<br />
"Do you love Scarlett" "No!"<br />
Hmmmm....I'll try again<br />
"Do you love blueberries" "Um-hmmm"<br />
"Do you love climbing" "Climbing...Yes!"<br />
"Do you love Frozen" "Whooosh. Yay"<br />
"Do you love Baby Scarlett" "NONONO"<br />
<br />
I think she is fibbing. But that sister of yours sure is a stinker!<br />
<br />
So, those are the happenings these past couple weeks. And while it has been crazy like usual, I remain so thankful for all those little moments that we get to steal where you give me sweet smiles, or look at me all milk-drunk and woozy before you fall asleep. Time is going much too fast for my liking, but I also just love seeing your personality emerge and you interact with others. You are such a special little girl, and I am so lucky that I get to be your Mommy!<br />
<br />
I love you,<br />

I thought I should take a minute and write a post about how 2 under 2 is actually going. Now that the post-partum dust has settled a bit, I feel like I can look at life objectively.<br />
<br />
Life is crazy. I asked Ryan the other day if he felt like we were just treading water. He laughed at me, gave me a hug an said "nope we're sinking."<br />
<br />
And we are. The reality is that we will never catch up with everything we want/need to do. But at this stage of our lives, we just need to be okay with that. And we can't let the craziness of life take away from our time and appreciation of our little ones.<br />
<br />
Overall, though it is easier than I expected. Some of that is due to Scarlett being an amazing baby. The work is constant. Don't get me wrong. I expect some of the work load will go down once Scarlett gets out of the baby phase a little and I can just double whatever I make for lunch, for example, instead of having to make Ellie something and then sit down to feed Scarlett. There are definitely some days where I feel like all I can do is change diapers and feed babies. The trick to my sanity, though, is realizing that like anything else, this season too will pass.<br />
<br />
I love the chaos. Yes, I wish that I could walk through my kitchen just once without stepping on the fridge magnets that Ellie constantly pulls down. But there is just something about craziness and chaos that screams FUN. And we have a LOT of fun here.<br />
<br />
Evenings are by far the hardest. Nursing 2 little ones to sleep is time consuming. When you couple that with the fact that I can't really get much done until they go to bed, and I am trying to cram all my house to-dos into about an hour of time after a full day of craziness an an hour of running between two rooms nursing, rocking, bouncing, shushing. All I want to do at that time is sit down with wine. But that doesn't work so well when there are no clean utensils in the entire house!<br />
<br />
I am such a list maker, and the one trick that I have learned, for my sanity, is that I MUST add the little things to my list. Otherwise, it is SO easy to look at the 1 or 2 things I got crossed off my list. So I put things on there like Tummy time with Scarlett or art project with Ellie. Otherwise I feel like I got nothing done as I walk back in to restart the drier for the third time since I just can't find time to fold those clothes.<br />
<br />
Overall, though, I really like it. I love the spacing of the girls. It is completely nutso, but so much fun!<br />
<br />

I'm trying to change that. Really, I am. It is only working marginally.<br />
<br />
After a pretty bad Mother's Day last year, we decided to try to do something a little different this year. Sundays are SO busy for us, that they don't really work to 'celebrate'. So, we took the next weekend and made Saturday our Mother's Day. That was MUCH better.<br />
<br />
We stuck around home in the morning. Ryan tried to let me sleep in, but the big princess got her leg caught in the crib slats (AGAIN....arg!) and was losing it until she had Mommy snuggles. I've got to say, those are better than sleep anyways.<br />
<br />
Then Ryan made yummy omelettes for breakfast. We had breakfast, then Ryan took the 2 oldest kiddos on a walk while I got some stuff done and fed the little princess. We ha some play time, then naps, and then we set out for St. Joe.<br />
<br />
It was chilly, but that didn't stop us from having a blast! Ellie got to play a bit on the playground. She also road on the carousel for the first time. She was fine at first, but as the carousel sped it (it goes pretty fast!) it was too much with that and the up and down motion, so I ended up holding her for the rest of the ride.<br />
<br />

<br />
Ryan took her on it too and she did better on a stationary horse. She was even waving then!<br />

<br />
We went to dinner at Silver Beach Pizza (YUM) an ate entirely too much pizza.<br />
<br />
Then we set out to take some pics on the beach. Ryan especially wanted to get some of Scarlett and I, as he wanted one to put in the new frame he got me. Well, he did one heck of a job. The impromptu photo shoot produced a ton of good pics. Wanna see?<br />

Overall, we had an awesome day. I love spending time with Ryan and my favorite girls!Jamihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13827649444533546115noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1375265967606929249.post-83792914437065047472014-05-16T10:25:00.000-07:002014-05-19T19:05:31.107-07:0015 weeksDear Baby Scarlett,<br />
<br />
Happy 15 weeks old, cutie pie! An what a week it was. We were certainly on the go!<br />
<br />
We will start with Saturday. I had to go to Grand Rapids and Daddy had to go to Michigan City, so you stayed with Grandma and Grandpa. You hung out and went for walks and kept Grandma and Grandpa's hands very full trying to cater to both of you little munchkins. I had a whole lot of people in Grand Rapids who were VERY upset they didn't get to meet you too. But, I think you had a lot of fun.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I was soooo happy to get home and see you and your sister. Even though getting you guys home, fed an to bed by myself got a little hairy (considering patience isn't a strong suit for either of you!) I was glad to be back with my girls. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Sunday was Mother's Day. Of course I already have the best Mother's Day presents ever...you and Ellie! But I loved the picture frame that you guys got me. We did church, then brunch with Grandma and Grandpa, then naps before hitting the gym. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The gym was...interesting. Luckily you were too young to partake in most of the craziness, but your Aunt Janel send Urban Swirl to the gym. All the kiddos were ice-creamed up, an of course your sister was RIGHT in the middle, eating ALL THE SWEETS.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lzzQPR8gjFU/U3H_djs86uI/AAAAAAAALyg/oGvalKTMcDM/s1600/IMAG8597" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lzzQPR8gjFU/U3H_djs86uI/AAAAAAAALyg/oGvalKTMcDM/s1600/IMAG8597" height="179" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
She was SUGARED UP between that and dessert at brunch. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QNfWKaG7JuI/U3H_cGyazZI/AAAAAAAALyY/XNarC-4P1Ng/s1600/IMG_20140511_204535" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QNfWKaG7JuI/U3H_cGyazZI/AAAAAAAALyY/XNarC-4P1Ng/s1600/IMG_20140511_204535" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Which, of course led to a very fun morning on Monday morning...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UAyL4ix2QN8/U3H_a35yGaI/AAAAAAAALyQ/mvK2sEszUYc/s1600/IMG_20140512_072532" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UAyL4ix2QN8/U3H_a35yGaI/AAAAAAAALyQ/mvK2sEszUYc/s1600/IMG_20140512_072532" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Sugar coma, party of 1? Yeah, you should probably learn from your sister on this one! Luckily you were smiley an ready to go!</div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XhLqjggCwvM/U3H_W4rxf4I/AAAAAAAALx4/zHCtx04NTuY/s1600/IMAG8637" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XhLqjggCwvM/U3H_W4rxf4I/AAAAAAAALx4/zHCtx04NTuY/s1600/IMAG8637" height="320" width="179" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We headed out with Lori to visit Nana, who was in the hospital. You girls did an awesome job of putting a smile on her face. You gave her sweet cuddles and coos and your sister was the entertinment, showing off all her animal sounds. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dsXCKYgBKw8/U3H_YHdyCKI/AAAAAAAALyA/k9uCXdNuOY4/s1600/IMAG8644" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dsXCKYgBKw8/U3H_YHdyCKI/AAAAAAAALyA/k9uCXdNuOY4/s1600/IMAG8644" height="320" width="179" /></a></div>
<br />
On Tuesday we had to run some errands. We went to both Micheals an Target. Even though you are getting more alert an awake, you still are awfully easy to tote around. It is funny for me to think about how hard I thought it was to take Ellie around when she was your age. Then again, I've heard it said that however many children you have, minus 1, seems easy. I am getting better at managing both of you, though.<br />
<br />
Wednesday was another dreary day and another visit to Nana. Luckily, she is feeling better and we were there when she got the news that she will be getting out of there today. Yay Nana!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BoXa_FlMowY/U3VjRXmeHZI/AAAAAAAALzY/Qh8Lyq36EIY/s1600/IMAG8704" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BoXa_FlMowY/U3VjRXmeHZI/AAAAAAAALzY/Qh8Lyq36EIY/s1600/IMAG8704" height="320" width="179" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Thursday it was COLD. We like warm days where we can play outside, not cold ones! We did bundle up and take a walk though.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Wd77W1-p8SM/U3Vit2oeeeI/AAAAAAAALzA/dxHzSB3QwVY/s1600/%255BUNSET%255D" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Wd77W1-p8SM/U3Vit2oeeeI/AAAAAAAALzA/dxHzSB3QwVY/s1600/%255BUNSET%255D" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We also headed to the breastfeeding coalition meeting. You were certainly a little fussier, but you did fall asleep on me, which was super sweet. AND, we got you weighed...13lbs 8oz! I am so glad that you are gaining so well, even with your propensity to sleep all the time. That just means I can enjoy these Squishy cuddles without having to interrupt you!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0inNNp3I5is/U3VjO8wULMI/AAAAAAAALzM/K1XelrHfzms/s1600/IMAG8725" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0inNNp3I5is/U3VjO8wULMI/AAAAAAAALzM/K1XelrHfzms/s1600/IMAG8725" height="179" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Speaking of Squish, your sister has started calling you that. She can't quite get out Scarlett, but she's great at "Squish" or "Squishy". She's still being an awesome big sister and giving you lot of love and kisses. Well, that is when she's not shouting at you to "WAKE UP" when you are snoozing in your swing. Or trying to pick you up (yup, we had that for the first time this week). Or, saying those 3 words that make my blood run cold when I am not in eyesight..."BAYBEE, watch me!" She loves you lots, but she can sure be a stinker!<br />
<br />
Speaking of being a stinker, you are getting to be one too, at least during bath time. You LOVE it, but kick so much that the entire bathroom and everyone in it ends up drenched. These smiles are worth it though, Smoosh!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GYXZO95RJGA/U3VjSRRt8WI/AAAAAAAALzg/5l1MGqJFSoA/s1600/IMG_20140513_194747" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GYXZO95RJGA/U3VjSRRt8WI/AAAAAAAALzg/5l1MGqJFSoA/s1600/IMG_20140513_194747" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Then today, we started out the day bright and early with some time at Grandma's while I went to work out. We came home for naps and then went out with Grandma and Grandpa Mason for dinner. You were so good and gave lots of coos and belly laughs for them too, even when it was way past bedtime.<br />
<br />
So, we survived another crazy week. Regardless of how crazy our schedules get, I love having two little reminders that I need to slow down and cherish all the little things. I know you will get SO big and independent, just like your sister, in the blink of an eye, so I am loving the extra time that we spend curled up before I put you to bed and watching you grow an learn at what seems like the speed of light. I am SO, SO glad I get to be your Mommy and I love you so much!<br />
<br />
I love you,<br />

We were on the floor having some naked baby playtime. And she did it.<br />
<br />
But, uh, she rolled from her back to her front. You know, the not-so-normal way. She still hasn't rolled front to back.<br />
<br />
She's so strange.<br />
<br />
But awfully cute.<br />

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Dear Scarlett,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Can you believe it? 14 weeks already? I was thinking the other day how time just seems to be flying by. In just a couple more months you'll be starting on solids. That seems crazy to me. Where did my little baby go?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Well we had another great week. Saturday started off with family cuddle time in bed, which is amazing. I could spend all day cuddling with you guys. Luckily, though, your sister would have nothing to do with sitting still that long. Good thing, or else I'd get NOTHING done!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-STcCn81ofnY/U200ngS7o7I/AAAAAAAALxA/p2warY3fQiY/s1600/IMAG8402" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-STcCn81ofnY/U200ngS7o7I/AAAAAAAALxA/p2warY3fQiY/s1600/IMAG8402" height="179" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Sunday was extra busy, as I had to spend extra time at the gym. Daddy does awesome with you two girlies, though. I will say, you are getting more like your sister in that you are not a fan of taking a bottle. I can't say I mind. I love the sweet snuggles I get when you are nursing!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
By Monday the weather was getting nicer and nicer, so we enjoyed time outside walking and running. I have the two cutest running buddies ever! You guys both like being outside so much (well, okay, Ellie doesn't like being strapped in the stroller...but...) and it is super good for us all to get some fresh air. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Bx9NjHtvrBw/U200lC547XI/AAAAAAAALww/9LpAnCs6AnA/s1600/IMAG8454" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Bx9NjHtvrBw/U200lC547XI/AAAAAAAALww/9LpAnCs6AnA/s1600/IMAG8454" height="320" width="179" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Tuesday we dropped Ellie off at Grandma's and had our own little date...to Saint Mary's for a retirement party. You were quite the hit! You got passed around to all the staff and gave everyone snuggles. I didn't think Dorothy was even going to give you back. They all remarked on how alert you are and how you love to be looking around. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-S7Qwh0O5op4/U200jwJ9orI/AAAAAAAALwo/j_2YnwS0ebc/s1600/IMAG8479" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-S7Qwh0O5op4/U200jwJ9orI/AAAAAAAALwo/j_2YnwS0ebc/s1600/IMAG8479" height="320" width="179" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Speaking of being alert, that hand-eye coordinating is getting better. You are grabbing onto your toys hanging from your playmat, and you've started to grab your O-ball. Of course the toy wars are now starting as Ellie automatically wants whatever you have 2 seconds after you grab it. Sigh.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Wednesday was spent around home and getting things ready for a crazy weekend. All our weekends really seem to be nuts. I'm sure as you and Ellie get to be bigger this will only get worse. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You know what isn't getting worse? Sleep! You're still the best sleeper ever. Naps have gotten a bit shorter (you are falling into a 2-3hr cycle of eat-sleep-play, which means I now rarely get a nap over 1h) BUT night sleep is magnificent. Still easily 10-12 hours a night. You are getting increasingly good at busting out of your swaddle, though. Look at that hand, my little Scarlett Stinkerpants!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Yf2mTehQw0A/U20zOrw0V9I/AAAAAAAALv0/07xufirgT_8/s1600/%255BUNSET%255D" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Yf2mTehQw0A/U20zOrw0V9I/AAAAAAAALv0/07xufirgT_8/s1600/%255BUNSET%255D" height="320" width="179" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Thursday it was GORGEOUS out, so we hit the zoo. Zoo trip 2 was a success. Even though it was pretty toasty, you did great, and slept through most of it.Your sister loved seeing all the animals. The turtle was a new favorite for her, and the otters were playing in the water right in front of us, which was really cool!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UcW-m1VYmpU/U200gTz9sVI/AAAAAAAALwQ/E0BcW1_JIG0/s1600/IMAG8553" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UcW-m1VYmpU/U200gTz9sVI/AAAAAAAALwQ/E0BcW1_JIG0/s1600/IMAG8553" height="320" width="179" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Of course we enjoy our walks too. Every night we are taking our family stroll around the neighborhood. Funny enough, though, this is about all we have time for between dinner and bed. It usually takes an hour by the time we find people to talk and play with (your sister loves it when Craig is out!) and going to see the animals (especially Virginia the pig!) and of course Ellie 'walking'...which really means her running into every yard and picking up every rock she can find. But, it is so nice to spend time with you all!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />

<br />
That brings us to today. We had errands to run this morning to get ready for a busy weekend and now we are home and I am TRYING to get some naps out of you two. It definitely isn't always easy to be the Mommy of you two, but I have to say, I love it. I love your little coos and how you talk with such big expressions on your face like I should understand exactly what you are saying. And I love seeing your face light up when you see me. Or Ellie. Or Daddy. Or Truff. I love that you are starting to belly laugh when I tickle your neck. I love how you kick your legs like you are swimming in the Olympics CONSTANTLY these days. I just love you, my little Scarlett, and I am so happy to have you as part of our family.<br />
<br />
I love you, Squish!<br />

<br />
Ryan = best. Dad. ever.<br />
<br />
For like a million reasons. But really, last Saturday morning took the cake.<br />
<br />
I was speaking at a conference for educators of teenage girls in Math and Science. Early in the week, we were driving my Chick-fil-a and they had a sign for a princess breakfast. It was Saturday morning. Bummer, that was a no-go.<br />
<br />
Until Friday night when Ryan asked where the girls' princess dresses were. Turns out he looked up the breakfast and was going to take the girls. How stinking adorable was that. So, he got them both dressed in their Cinderella outfits and out the door to breakfast at a reasonable time. That in itself is a small miracle.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DgLDjv1NZvQ/U2QsaXkK5yI/AAAAAAAALug/CGYoiCSw5Ac/s1600/IMAG8240" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DgLDjv1NZvQ/U2QsaXkK5yI/AAAAAAAALug/CGYoiCSw5Ac/s1600/IMAG8240" height="179" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
They had a blast. Ellie got her face painted, and they made frog crafts and got balloons and saw a horse drawn carriage (but not too close as Ellie didn't like the horses so much...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
